The easiest checkout-day option. The front desk fills out the airway bill, pays the courier, and all you do is drop the luggage. But **not every hotel offers this** — budget business hotels, capsules, and guesthouses often refuse, so check before you book.
Best for: chain business hotels and above, travellers who want to move hands-free on checkout day, and anyone who doesn't mind paying an extra ¥100–300 service fee.

⚠️ Confirm before you book
Not every hotel forwards luggage. Capsule hotels, hostels, Airbnb, and some budget chains usually don't. Before booking, check JPLuggageGo's "hotel chain forwarding policy table" (scroll down on the /quote page), or email / call the hotel directly: "このホテルから宅急便は発送できますか?"

- 1Ask at check-in with one quick line
At check-in, casually ask: "明日、荷物を発送したいですが、お願いできますか?" Confirm: (1) whether they handle forwarding, (2) cash only or cards accepted, (3) how much lead time they need (usually same-day on checkout is fine).
- 2Checkout day: bring luggage to the front desk
Bring your suitcase to the front desk before checkout and say: "チェックアウトと荷物の発送をお願いします" (checkout + shipping). They'll hand you an airway bill.
- 3Fill out the airway bill (hotel-forwarding specifics)
The key is the recipient field: "○○ホテル ○○様気付 ○○ (your name)." "気付" means "c/o" — Japanese couriers see this and know to hand it off to the hotel rather than chase the recipient directly. Hotel name in kanji, 7-digit postal code, Japanese-version address. Use this (current) hotel as the sender address.
- 4Weigh-in → fare → payment
Most hotels have a small scale to weigh on the spot, and they'll tell you the fare (usually a ¥100–300 service fee is added, so slightly more than a branch drop-off). Cash is the main payment method; some upscale hotels let you charge to the room and use a card. ¥5,000 cash on hand is the safest.
- 5Take the receipt → leave
The hotel gives you a sender copy (ご依頼主控) with the tracking number. Photo it and keep the physical copy until your luggage arrives at the next hotel. You can leave hands-free — the rest is on the hotel and the courier.
Special rules for hotel forwarding
- **Must arrive the day before the receiving hotel stay**: per Yamato rules, luggage sent to your next hotel must arrive "the day before your stay" and be stored there. If your stay is same-day and delivery is also same-day, Yamato may refuse.
- **Never botch the "c/o" line**: "○○ホテル ○○様気付 ○○." Without the "気付" characters, the hotel may mistake it for another guest's parcel — resulting in misrouting and hard-to-find packages.
- **Some hotels only receive, others only forward**: the chain policy table flags this per hotel — check before you book.
- **Carry valuables / fragile items / cash yourself**: the hotel often has you sign a waiver confirming "no valuables / cash / electronics inside" — damage to those items won't be compensated.
- **Boxes and bags aren't guaranteed**: shipping the suitcase as-is is easiest. For loose items, buy a box at a convenience store before checkout.

Once the luggage reaches the next hotel?
The receiving hotel takes it and puts it in storage. At check-in, proactively tell the front desk "荷物が届いているはずです" (my luggage should have arrived) and show the receipt's tracking number screenshot — they'll retrieve it. Some hotels put it in your room; others expect you to pick up and sign at the front desk.

Below are standard Yamato Kuroneko Takkyubin fares. Hotel forwarding is usually priced at cost; a handful of luxury hotels (Imperial, Ritz, Peninsula) add a ¥300–1,000 per-piece service fee.
