1 itemsJanuary is a pure ski-season month: the Fuji-area resorts are open, and dry winter air makes distant views of the mountain unusually reliable. Fuji itself and the Fifth Station are closed, so climbing has to wait for summer.

1 itemsFebruary is Yamanashi's quietest month for events but its most dependable for snow — the Fuji-area ski resorts are the main draw, with cold clear days good for mountain views. Nothing to climb: summit and Fifth Station stay closed.
March
1 itemsMarch is a transition month. The Fuji-area ski resorts wind down by month's end and conditions turn patchy, while cherry and shibazakura seasons don't begin until April. Come for low-crowd Fuji views, not for flowers or climbing.
April
5 itemsApril is Yamanashi's most packed month: cherry blossoms framed against Fuji at Arakurayama Sengen Park, the Fuji Shibazakura Festival by Lake Motosu, the Shingen-ko Festival, and the Fifth Station road reopening. Weekends fill fast, so book early.
May
3 itemsMay carries the shibazakura season at Lake Motosu to its close, with the Fuji Fifth Station open and the year's most comfortable weather. The catch is Golden Week, when Fuji-area traffic and room rates peak — go after the holidays if you can.
June
2 itemsJune is rainy season, so temper any expectation of actually seeing Fuji. Fruit picking across Yamanashi starts this month as a weather-proof fallback, the Fifth Station is open, and crowds and prices are among the year's lowest.
July
4 itemsJuly opens the Fuji summit season — read the climbing gear checklist before you pack. Fruit picking is in full swing, grape picking begins, and the Fifth Station is open all month. Expect real lowland heat and a wide gap to summit conditions.
August
6 itemsAugust is the busiest month by far: the Kawaguchiko lake festival and the Isawa Onsen fireworks, plus the climbing season, fruit and grape picking, and the Fifth Station all running at once. Summer holidays and Obon make booking far ahead mandatory.
September
4 itemsSeptember winds down the summer program: the Fuji summit season ends early in the month, so climbing means going in the first days. Fruit and grape picking continue, the Fifth Station stays open, and typhoon season argues for one spare day.
October
3 itemsOctober is the last window for Yamanashi's fruit and grape picking, both of which end this month, and the Fifth Station road is still open with clear autumn views. Foliage, though, peaks in November — push the trip later if that's the point.
November
3 itemsNovember is the foliage month: the Kawaguchiko autumn leaves festival and Shosenkyo gorge both fall here, while the Fifth Station road's season is winding down, so ride up while you still can. Weekends around the lake get badly congested.
December
2 itemsDecember is a changeover: the Fifth Station road closes early in the month while the Fuji-area ski resorts open from mid-month. Few events otherwise — a good month for clear-day Fuji views, onsen, and easier bookings before the holidays.
